- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, December 30 - 2004 at 11:35
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia (E-Vision) today announced a thorough overhaul of its information channel that will see it carry programming for the first time and screen events.
The channel, which runs from five in the evening until midnight, has already begun to break new ground by screening events across the Emirates, and recently broadcast the events of the Dubai International Film Festival.
E-Vision plans to run programmes detailing the making of blockbuster movies, in addition to film trailers, interviews with stars, and electronic press kits. Archival material depicting life in the UAE will also be making its debut. Humaid Rashid Sahoo, E-Vision Chief Executive Officer, said: "This overhaul marks the beginning of programming on the info channel.
"We are still in the early stages but we are working hard to bring our customers a channel that is informative, entertaining and in line with our reputation as leaders in the field of cable TV in the region as a whole."
A two-minute line feed is available which offers a preview of some of the programmes running on the various bouquets carried by the cable company.
The channel will run prayer timings in cities across the UAE, a daily currency, gold and silver exchange rates, in addition to classified advertisements.
In an effort to introduce the services of the info channel to non-E-Vision subscribers, buildings and compounds across the UAE will offer the channel free of charge to residents.
Moreover, an interactive competition will be carried jointly by E-Vision and its partner Firstnet on the Info Channel and will offer attractive prices to winners.
The information channel is one of several of E-Vision's own channels. The others are e-junior, the kids channel; e-View, the Pay Per View service; and e-Games, the interactive gaming channel.
