Education and Vocation Counselling Show to debut at Expo Centre Sharjah

The Education and Vocation Counselling Show, an UAE education platform solely dedicated to undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment and other higher educational opportunities, will make its debut at Expo Centre Sharjah on March 6, 2005.

The six-day show, an annual event, is primarily intended for the country's prospective school leavers, undergraduates and those who are seeking to further their education locally or abroad.

Jointly organised by UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Expo Centre Sharjah, the Education and Vocation Counselling Show will feature top 50 universities and other institutes of higher education from across the Gulf region including UAE, Asia and Europe.

'The Education and Vocation Counselling Show will be a platform for educational institutes to showcase their wide range of programmes and services,' said Mr. Mohammed Salem Al Mosharrekh, Board Member, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), at a media briefing on the new show at Expo Centre Sharjah on January 4, 2005.

'More than 30,000 pupils graduate from UAE Schools each year. Of this, a large number are keen to pursue tertiary education in institutes and universities within the UAE or abroad,' he added.

A major participant at the first edition of the Education and Vocation Counselling show will be the Abu Dhabi Police Academy. The Academy is participating in exhibition of such a profile for the first time.

Currently, the major areas of study pursued by students from the UAE are Finance, Banking, Tourism, Media Studies, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Dentistry, Environmental Science, IT

Some of the favorite educational destinations for UAE students are Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Malaysia and India.

The Education and Vocation Counselling Show, though just in its first edition, is expected to attract no less than 15,000 visitors. The UAE Ministry of Education will arrange visits for school students, separately for boys and girls, to the morning sessions of the show.
