Maintenance Program

The SuSE Linux Portal provides users of the Maintenance Program with the latest information, tips and tricks, enhancements, and bug fixes for all SuSE Linux products offered by Sun.

Customers are promptly notified by e-mail about new bug fixes, functional enhancements, or product innovations. Additionally, you can make use of the online Support Database SDB.

The SuSE Linux Support Database contains the accumulated expertise and technical details on all versions of all SuSE Linux products. Functional enhancements are available for download in the SuSE Linux Portal.

Using the graphical update tool, your functional enhancements and bug fixes can easily be installed. You can submit incidents and track them through Sun's Online Support Center.

You are eligible for e-mail support for the installation of the servers and the connection to the company network. Unless otherwise specified by Sun, support is provided only in the English language.

Please note that you are asked to register on the SuSE Linux Portal with your Registration Code prior to be entitled to request support from Sun. This will ensure proper call escalation ability for Sun Services.

Upgrade to SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9

The SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 is supported, but until Sun has completed the Hardware Compatibility List tests, technicians can only offer 'reasonable effort' support.

If this is not acceptable, Sun advises users to continue using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 until your particular system is on the HCL. You can check the HCL by visiting SuSE's certified hardware site.

Sun is working on getting our hardware certified by SuSE as part of the official HCL, and expects to have our systems on the HCL by the end of the year.
