The event, held at the college, featured speeches by Mr. Mohammed Al Fahim, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Fahim Group of Companies, and by Mr. Yousef Bin Lahej, Marketing Manager of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.
Intended to motivate young, UAE nationals, the quick-reference booklet and website have been produced to enhance entrepreneurial spirit and provide direction for UAE nationals wishing to start their own businesses.
'We really hope that our guide conveys the message that anything is possible for ambitious young people in this country, providing that they take the time to do research and follow proven steps in the business planning process', said Salem Abdulrahman Salem, one of the E-Commerce students responsible for producing the guide. 'We feel that the idea of students producing a guide for young leaders was an innovative and sensible approach because we know how to communicate effectively with this young audience,' commented Salem.
The students hope to begin distributing the guide to fellow students across the eleven colleges of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
'There may be an opportunity to increase distribution if there is a strong demand, but for now we are interested to have the feedback of students at HCT,' said supervising faculty member at Sharjah Men's College, Michele Haddad.
The presence of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders provided additional endorsement and encouragement for the young men in attendance at the launch event. Mr. Yousef Bin Lahej and Mr. Raed Daoudi, executives from the organization, provided information about this establishment for emerging business leaders, and indicated that the organization could offer substantial support and guidance for those interested in bringing a business proposal forward.
The students at Sharjah Men's College are delighted that they have been able to produce both the booklet and website guide from inception to completion: the project has been in the works since September 2004. 'This project was born out of a brainstorming session with our E-Commerce class,' commented Salem. 'It has been very rewarding to see the idea materialize into something that will provide help and direction to the wealth of ambitious and bright young people in the UAE.'
