"The programme is comprehensive and provides hands-on training to undergraduates of the Higher Colleges of Technology - Dubai Women's College. The exposure will be to businesses that are entrepreneurial in nature. We will educate DWC students to understand how small and medium enterprises operate in real life. We will also make them aware of all the challenges that may face them when they start operating their own businesses," said Abdul Baset Al Janahi CEO of Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.

He said the Internship Programme is being implemented by SME in accordance with HCT (Dubai Women's College) in order to provide credits to students of HCT.

The purpose of the programme is to let students experience real working conditions in a true entrepreneurial environment and to understand what is important to execute their own business in addition to building relationships and contacts.

"This Internship Programme is designed for students interested in learning more about entrepreneurship or those students that are definitely interested in owning their own businesses. It is an excellent learning opportunity and a chance to work in a creative and dynamic work environment," said the SME CEO

The companies participating in this programme are SME member firms and companies that are entrepreneurial in nature. Member companies from the Young Entrepreneur Organisation are also taking part.

Career choice
Abdul Baset Al Janahi said that: "This programme is different from the internship programme at HCT in a way that students from the HCT internship program are trained in private and multinational companies. Students involved in the SME Internship Programme will be trained in an entrepreneurial environment within small and medium sized companies."

The SME CEO added that: "This Internship Programme will encourage the students to consider entrepreneurship as a career choice. To that end, we feel that exposure to the entrepreneurial culture within a dynamic environment will serve to assist the student to better determine if entrepreneurship is really the path they want to choose."

Howard E. Reed from Dubai Women's College welcomed the partnership with Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders. "This partnership between the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders and Dubai Women's College is an excellent opportunity to develop the entrepreneurial talents of young educated UAE nationals," Reed said.
