HH Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum opens new UOWD Campus at Knowledge Village Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Information Department, Government of Dubai, inaugurated the new campus of University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) at Knowledge Village today.
Adding additional pomp and circumstance to the occasion, members of the Dubai Police Band and the Dubai Children's Symphony Orchestra performed at the opening.
Professor Stephen Martin, CEO of UOWD, said: "We are delighted to be part of the stimulating educational environment taking shape at Knowledge Village Dubai, and are very grateful for the participation of His Highness Sheikh Hasher and Professor Sutton.
"Our move to a new campus reflects our commitment to state-of-the-art facilities, advanced systems and quality learning for both the local and international student."
Established in 1993, UOWD was the first Australian university in Dubai licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Professor Martin continued: "The opening of UOWD in Knowledge Village represents a substantial investment in the university's future in the UAE and its reputation for the highest quality Australian higher education."
UOWD currently offers Masters courses in Business Administration, International Business, and Quality Management. Undergraduate courses include Bachelor degrees in Business Administration, Commerce, Computer Science, and Internet Science and Technology.
In addition, the University's Centre for English Studies offers students a range of English language programmes for general and academic purposes. It is also an approved IELTS testing centre.
The university's faculty is a mix of locally and internationally recruited academics with extensive experience in the classroom as well as in business and industry. They bring years of knowledge gained from research in their respective fields, providing students with a stimulating academic environment.
UOWD's popularity amongst students has grown rapidly in recent years. Students enjoy a vibrant social life on campus with facilities including a food court, an active Student Representative Council, personal and academic counselling, a medical centre and a well-resourced library. Full accommodation options are also available within close proximity to the University.
Today, more than 1,650 students from approximately 70 countries are enrolled at University of Wollongong in Dubai.
