Safety is the core concern at DSF

With the Dubai Shopping Festival 2005 enthralling crowds with fireworks, water shows and a host of other activities, safety, security and awareness remains a core concern of the Civil Defence Department activities this year, as in all previous years.
The Civil Defence activities for this year includes, competitions organised between the department's teams, the fire-fighting women brigade, the fire fighter Salem tours, marine rescue team shows and the issue of child identity cards.
The Safety and Security Teams Competitions on Civil Defence work and medic first aid will be held between security men at various hotels. A training period will be held before the competitions that will reflect the efficiency of the Civil Defence activities.
The fire fighting women's brigade comprises of a group of women trained in Civil Defence work including medic first aid. Highly trained in every aspect of Civil Defence work, these fire fighters will work on various DSF sites during the women's days.
Clowns wearing various costumes will enthrall and educate children and demonstrate the dangers of fire to the young audience at the Fire Fighter Salem Tours. The popular fire fighter Salem and his happy Gulf Car will be a regular fixture of DSF events and parks. Quizzes regarding fire safety will be conducted for the audience and gifts will be handed out to children in the course of these tours.
The Marine Rescue Team, which is part of the Civil Defence team in cooperation of the Port Authority will be doing more than saving lives this DSF. With the water show resembling the popular Fantasia, the team will mesmerize spectators by using water guns from boats for the show.
To avoid the mayhem that centers around lost children, special child identity cards will be distributed at the Global Village and other crowded areas by the Civil Defence kiosks to facilitate the mission of missing children. The cards will carry the name of the child, the name of his/ her parents as well as contact numbers.
