By offering 'storage as a service', eCompany is eliminating the need for organisations to invest in highly available and highly expensive storage and tape backup solutions to accomplish their disaster recovery & business continuity objectives.

The introduction of eStorage services is in response to the growing regional demand for outsourced data storage services and will make storage solutions available to a wider segment of the business community. eCompany will offer a range of flexible eStorage packages utilising disk and tape technologies based upon industry leading Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure provided by global leaders like EMC and Storagetek.

Adding eStorage to an already impressive range of services that includes eHosting, eSecurity, ePayment, eRetailing and eConsulting, Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, General Manager, eCompany, said: 'We are offering storage as a service to enable business to reap the benefits of cutting edge storage technology, without the traditional costs or lead-time associated with in-house implementation. Corporations can now leverage our efficient information life cycle management capabilities while cutting storage costs. '

eCompany expects its new eStorage services to be well received. 'Storage requirements of individual organisations differ greatly. Some place a high emphasis on the remote replication of data or the creation of secondary sites, while others seek high availability solutions or disaster protection by remote site backup. For some,

eCompany's services may form the foundation for their disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives,' concluded Julfar.

Despite the cost of storage hardware falling, businesses must still make significant investment for the implementation and management of storage solutions, making them an unrealistic proposition for the majority of medium to small enterprises. 'Numerous organisations are caught in a situation of needing data storage solutions but not being able to financially justify the initial investment and the subsequent running IT costs. The total cost of ownership is just too high,' added Julfar.

The pervasiveness of the Internet and the shift towards an information-based economy has dramatically raised the importance of data to successful business. Consequently, the storage and protection of this information has now become a critical issue for many organisations. eCompany believes its range of eStorage services will bridge the present gap in the regional storage market whereby effective storage solutions will be available to a greater segment of the business community.
