- PRESS RELEASE
Al Alamiah Institute for Computer and Technology (AICT) unveiled the new steps it has taken to enhance, modernize and develop its educational and administrative programs, in keeping with the ambitious program the institute has adopted and in collaboration with international and local academic institutes.
The announcement was made by Dr. Mohammad Al Badr, General Manager, AICT, who explained that developing the educational program at AICT comes as a result of the collaboration agreement signed between AICT and the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), whereby graduates of the Institute will obtain Higher National Diplomas through the Computer Sciences Diploma program offered at AICT which provides students with a high quality, hands-on, application oriented educational program, enhanced independent research and intensified activities closely linked to the work environment.
"The program concentrates on assisting students to acquire necessary basic practical skills; this includes communicating, applying technology, applying numeracy, managing and developing self, applying design and creativity, working with and relating to others, managing tasks and solving problems with the aim of producing highly qualified and competent graduates," commented Dr. Badr.
On the same note, the Institute established a "Quality Supervision & Monitoring Office" which will be in charge of liaising with the various supervisory academic establishments (King Saud University, King Abdulaziz University, the General Organisation for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT), and the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) ).
Upon its conception, the Quality Supervision & Monitoring Office appointed an internal verifier or an academic manager for each branch, whose duty it is to monitor the execution of the educational plans and programs, and to provide student support during the learning process. A regional internal verifier was also appointed whose job it is to supervise all the branches within Riyadh and Al Qassim. Other regional internal verifiers were appointed to monitor each of the Eastern, the Western and the Southern regions. A Lead Internal Verifier heads the group of regional internal verifiers.
Eng. Mohannad Salah, Lead Internal Verifier to the newly established office, elaborated that immediately upon its inception, the Quality Supervision & Monitoring Office implemented numerous achievements and developments.
"What sets us apart is the quick and positive response to the developments and changes referred to us by the academic supervisory establishments, centralization of educational plan development, using comprehensive programs for Higher National Diplomas, and the on-going training and development of the academic body of the institute," added Eng. Salah.
It is worth mentioning that the main activities of the Quality Supervision & Monitoring Office revolve around monitoring, auditing and executing academic performance evaluation for each branch, adopting centralized unified Assignments and exams for over 50 AICT branches nationwide via the specialized training packages group, in addition to adopting an electronic registration system, implementing unified standards of evaluation for trainers and internal verifiers, and the execution of branch inspections - which has resulted in increased effectiveness, productivity and improved performance levels.
The Quality Supervision & Monitoring Office will also supervise the preparatory procedures for introducing the LMS (learning Management System) which will result in increased educational and administrative competence, fast and effective communication between institute and student, and enable students to monitor their homework and performance levels via the Internet.
