DTCM showcase women's remarkable role in nation building and guarding traditions

As part of its month-long Heritage programmes for the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF-2005), the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) organized a unique exhibition highlighting the remarkable contribution of the UAE women in nation building and development and in guarding the traditions and heritage for the future generations.
Shaikha Al Mutawa, Member of the DSF Heritage Events Committee at the DTCM, said: "The exhibition celebrates the strong role being played by the UAE women in the development and progress of the country and showcases their impressive contribution in safeguarding the traditions and culture of the emirate. The overwhelming response that exhibition has been getting is a strong proof of their yeomen services being recognized by one and all from near and far."
The live tradition exhibition will have workshops on creations by the Women's Association and showcases the traditional products. Visitors are encouraged to learn these handicrafts in the workshops.
The exhibition will also have a section devoted to herbal medicines and ancient perfumes. Short movies on the items of importance for the ladies in the yore and present time is also shown each day to the visitors.
The exhibition has been organized in a traditional fashion and features products that are of daily use in women's life.
The extraordinary exhibition is being seen by thousands of visitors of all ages and nationalities, especially women and teenagers, each day.
Backed by an all-time record AED 4.2 million budget and AED 1 million prizes for public competitions, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is leaving no stone unturned to make the 2005 edition of the DSF memorable to visitors.
The DTCM Manager Events and Chairman of DSF Heritage Events Committee, Mr. Marwan bin Beyat, said: "The refreshing changes introduced to the Calendar of Events this year go far beyond the public expectations."
The sprawling complex of heritage sites in the scenic Al Shindagha comes alive as a slew of all-appealing events get underway each evening, offering loads of fun and excitement to visitors of all ages and nationalities.
The department, offering its strongest support to the trend-setting carnival right from its inception, is hopeful about attracting crowds that breaks all previous records.
Mr. bin Beyat said: "The whole idea is to educate the residents and tourists about our glorious past and the unfaltering efforts to preserve the invaluable heritage for the benefit of the future generations."
Philips, Patchi, Paris Gallery and IFFCO have extended their inspirational support to the DTCM for this year's DSF.
