Saudi Arabian and UAE companies join forces to improve waste management in the Kingdom

The newly signed partnership agreement between the two companies is seen as a significant development in the Kingdom, approximately 80% of which is still to be connected to a sewerage system.

Following the signing of the agreement which signifies Septech Emirates' increasing presence in the GCC region, the UAE-based company has tendered to supply a sewerage treatment plant for the tallest building in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

RISAL, operating in Saudi since 1976 works, from locations throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, offering a wide range of industrial cleaning and waste management services. This agreement with Septech Emirates improves RISAL's capacity to offer an all-round waste management package to its clients.

"An integrated waste management and industrial cleaning approach provides the opportunity to assist clients in pursuing waste minimisation and recycling as well as other disposal options," said David Heffernan, managing director, Septech Emirates.

"It is promising that the Governor of the Makkah region, Prince Abdul Majeed Bin Abdul Aziz has said the government has allocated SR1.1 billion for the implementation of sewerage disposal projects in Jeddah. We hope our experience and expertise will also contribute to benefiting the wider community of the Kingdom as a whole."

Septech Emirates has completed a variety of major projects in recent years, including
Al Maha Desert Resort for Emirates Airlines, a treatment plant for the private palace of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah and City Centre for Majid Al Futtaim.

The UAE-based company has also introduced BioSol to the region, a revolutionary, non-toxic product with the ability to 'switch off' bacteria and totally eradicate odour from waste water networks.

As well as removing odour, BioSol significantly reduces costs associated with the corrosion of sewerage infrastructure by controlling sulfuric acid and H²S gas production. By reducing the potential for fats, oil and grease in the sewerage catchment, the likelihood of blockages and system build-ups are also reduced substantially.

While the removal of odour associated with sewerage is a major benefit BioSol, researched for more than five years in Australia, also improves effluent quality and significantly reduces the need for chemicals. This minimises adverse affects on the environment and as a non-toxic product, poses no threat to human health.

Established by David Heffernan in the UAE seven years ago, Septech Emirates offers a tailor-made and complete solution to waste water infrastructure in the GCC region. The company was recently acquired through a management buyout by ABRAAJ Capital, a premiere investment firm that specialises in Private Equity Buyout investments in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
