Etisalat expands popular radio contests for the new Toll-Free Service

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) today announced the expansion of a radio contest aimed at increasing consumer awareness of Toll-Free Alphanumeric Dialing. Callers, to participating radio stations, will be asked for the numbers that correspond to a particular word. The winners will receive prizes from an array of sponsors.

This new Toll-Free Service gives businesses the opportunity to present their name instead of numbers consumer contact numbers, as their main Customer Care or their other services contact. The participant sponsors for these contests include SAMSUNG (800-SAMSUNG), Rotana Hotels (800-ROTANA), Al Fardan Exchange (800-AFEX) and US Robotics (800-USRME). Prizes include watches, mobile phones, overnight stays in hotels, High-Speed Internet Modems, prepaid calling cards and more.

Mohammed Al Fahim, Etisalat's Executive Vice President of Marketing, said: "This radio campaign clarifies to the public how to use this new service. Anyone who is familiar with the letters marked on the telephone keypad would easily be able to spell every word with its corresponding numbers. Our main objective is to inform the public on how to call a Toll Free service using letters. It is worth pointing out that more than 300 major companies and service providers now have Alphanumeric Toll Free services"

Contests are being broadcasted by several stations at various times of the day during the period between 15 to 26 January 2005. Participating stations include Channel 4, English (104.8 FM) and Urdu (89.1 FM) Arabic (Al ARabea ) 107.8 FM and Al Arabia (98.9 FM), in addition to Emarat FM (95.8FM in Abu Dhabi, 97.1FM in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, 94.9 FM in Alain, 88.5 FM in RAK, 103.9 FM in Fujairah) and there will be three contests per day running weekdays on each Radio Station.
