BFH Chairman, Esam Janahi, invited to World Economic Forum as a 'Young Global Leader'

In recognition of his leadership skills, innovative drive and commitment to growth and development, Mr. Esam Janahi, Chairman of Bahrain Financial Harbour, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Gulf Finance House Group (GFH), Vice Chairman of Gulf Finance House Commercial Bank (GFHCB), and a Shura Council Member, has been invited as a 'Young Global Leader' to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos which will take place during January 26-30 2005.
Commenting on his selection, Mr. Janahi said: "It is an honour for me and the organisations I represent to be chosen as a `Young Global Leader' by a committee comprising eminent members. The nomination will further encourage me to strive ahead and contribute to the development and growth of the society in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the world in general."
"I am also indebted to the rulers and the Government of Bahrain for their constant support which has helped me and the GFH Group contribute to the economic and social welfare of the society. This honour also goes to the management and employees who have given me unstinting support in all my endeavours," he said.
Mr. Janahi has been selected as a `Young Global Leader' by a distinguished nomination committee, comprising the most eminent leaders from world media and chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan.
As a `Young Global Leader' Mr. Janahi, will also take part in the inaugural summit of The Forum of Young Global Leaders at Zermatt, Switzerland, and a Special Programme of the Young Global Leaders during the WEF annual meet 2005.
Mr. Janahi is the driving spirit behind an array of GFH-led projects, conceived with the aim of bettering the economic and social prospects of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region in general. The landmark projects which occupies a strategic place in the economic diversification drive of the region include the US$1.3 billion Bahrain Financial Harbour, the US$600 million Al Areen Desert Spa and Resort and a US$3.8 billion themepark, Legends in Dubailand.
Mr. Janahi has also been nominated by the World Islamic Banking Conference 2003 in Bahrain as the `Islamic Banker of the Year' and under his leadership, GFH has bagged the Euromoney nomination as the `Most Innovative Islamic Finance House.' Mr. Janahi has also been nominated as the Young Arab Leader by the Young Arab Leaders Organisation.
