'Traffic' and 'Parking' to be additional segments at ROADEX 2006

"With the addition of Traffic and Parking, ROADEX 2006 will emerge as the most comprehensive event for the Road sector in the region. The scope of the event has been substantially expanded to tap these rapidly growing segments. Innovative technology, as well as the latest products that tackle parking and traffic related issues will be included at ROADEX 2006. These segments will complement the existing areas on which ROADEX focuses such as roads, bridges and tunnels" said a spokesperson for the General Exhibitions Corporation, the organisers of ROADEX 2006.

"With the outstanding success of ROADEX 2004 which was held in 14 - 17 March 2004 and featured exhibitors from 33 countries which we believe we have created an unmatched platform for the road industry focussed on the region, to showcase their capabilities to a worldwide audience. Our aim is to capitalise on the platform we have built, to develop ROADEX into one of the most comprehensive events of its kind in the world" added the spokesperson.

In the last few decades the Gulf region has witnessed aggressive growth of the infrastructure sector, which is seen as evidence of the region's long-term commitment to establish and maintain a sustainable growth rate in urban development. This is clearly seen in the dedicated allocation for infrastructure development in the Middle East in general and in the Gulf region in particular. In the emirate of Abu Dhabi alone, the expenditure on road infrastructure is estimated at over US$ 1.3 billion annually, while the budget for the UAE as a whole was over US$ 5 Billion. Furthermore, the UAE implements all international standards and regulations with regard to safety and road durability. Hence, ROADEX 2006 presents a great opportunity for exhibitors, consultants and decision makers to meet face to face and explore new opportunities for cooperation in a way that can benefit this vital sector.

The ROADEX project team has been promoting the 2006 edition at various international exhibitions including the '3rd International Silk Road Conference & Exhibition' in China, 'Asphaltica' in Italy and the 'ITS World Congress' in Japan. The promotional campaign has evoked good results with several exhibitor sign-on's including companies from the US, Lebanon, Italy and China. The International Road Federation and the World Road Association in France have already confirmed their support for ROADEX 2006.

ROADEX 2006 will take place at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition & Conference Centre (ADIEC).
