Kuwaiti banks on the up

Kuwaiti local banks' assets, deposits and loans rose during 2004, as they benefited from high oil prices, increased construction and consumer spending and the removal of direct threat from Iraq. Banks held USD64.1bn in assets, USD39.6bn in deposits and loaned out USD33.6bn, all figures up on 2003, according to a Central Bank of Kuwait statement.
