The seminars are part of the organisation's nation-wide programme that was announced recently and were being organised in conjunction with the various Education Zones of the UAE Ministry of Education.

The programme kicked off with seminars in Sharjah schools earlier this month, continued in Fujairah last week, and is scheduled to run in Al Ain this week. The EIM seminars have been very well received by school administration departments as well as Educational Zone coordinators.

'With the Internet presenting a valuable learning medium for UAE youth, we are continuously seeking ways to facilitate its integration into the local education system,' commented an attendee of the seminar in Fujairah. 'EIM's Internet Awareness Campaign is playing an important role in encouraging the use of the Internet as a modern learning tool in the UAE education process' say's Abdulah Hashem, Senior Manager, Sales & Business Development.

The program has a strategic objective of promoting awareness and understanding specifically among school administrators on the Internet's power to enhance both the teaching and learning experiences. Through the seminars, EIM speakers communicate the importance of the Internet not only as a vast source of information for both teachers and students, but also as a convenient communication medium between schools and homes that complements classroom interaction.

'The integration of the Internet into the educational process can greatly enhance communication between students and teachers, and encourage teamwork amongst students,' explained Abdulla Hashim, Senior Manager, Business Development and Sales at EIM. 'No longer is the learning experience restricted to school timings and premises, but can be extended throughout the day through virtual classrooms and at the convenience of all parties. The EIM Internet Awareness Campaign aims to communicate these new opportunities that can work alongside the traditional education methods.'

E-mail can enable the exchange of information and assignments between teachers and students from their homes, whereas the use of dedicated websites to post information can be a convenient way of sharing work in team projects. By familiarizing themselves with the Internet, educators will be able to use their role as motivators to encourage the use of the Internet as a learning tool and offer guidance on educational material available online.
