Citibank No. 1 credit card issuer in the UAE

Citibank, a member of Citigroup, ranked first in number of credit cards in use in the UAE market as well as No. 1 issuing bank in UAE for retail spending on credit cards, according to Visa International's quarterly member bank statistics issued for the period ending 30 September 2004.
Today, the bank is a leading provider of credit cards and consumer credit services including personal and auto loans in the UAE. In 2004, its Emirates Citibank Credit Card won Credit Card of the Year Award from the GCC Banking Awards 2004 program run by "Banker Middle East Magazine", while in 2003, the card won "Best Affinity Charge/Credit card Program" (International) Freddie Award.
"These figures, released by Visa, reinforce our leadership position in the UAE market," said Rajeev Kakar, Regional Head for Citibank's Consumer Bank in Turkey, Middle East & Africa, who is based in UAE.
