Salah Abdul Rahman Amiri, Director, Dubai Central Laboratory Department said the participation of Dubai Municipality is based on Dubai Central Laboratory's commitment to its mission and vision of ensuring consumer confidence in the products certified by the Municipality labs.

He said the Dubai Central Laboratory Department is doing its best to market its services and let its customers get acquainted with them.

'As part of the exhibition, Dubai Central Laboratory will display the different services it provides to its customers, specially the new services that are going to be introduced in the area of testing of cosmetic items and home appliances in order to protect the rights of the customers,' said Amiri.

In addition to this, the visitors to the exhibition will be distributed with brochures and leaflets, which describe different services provided by the Dubai Central Laboratory. A film on these services will also be shown during the exhibition, emphasising on services of product certification and calibration provided by the Dubai Central Laboratory according to internationally approved standards, he said.

It is to be recalled that in June 2000, the Dubai Central Laboratory became the first department in Dubai Municipality to receive ISO 9002 certificate for quality.

'We are doing our best to follow international standards such as ISO 9001 for quality and we are currently exerting our efforts to get the accreditation for ISO 17025,' said Amiri.

He said that a questionnaire will be distributed to the visitors to the exhibition in order to ascertain their opinions about the services provided by Dubai Central Laboratory.

Amiri said that last year's show had provided Dubai Central Laboratory with the opportunity to showcase the technological excellence of its labs, as well as to educate the visitors and the exhibitors about the various testing options offered by it.

He said Dubai Central Laboratory's participation in the Arab Lab and Instrumentation Show is based on a two-pronged strategy. 'On the one hand the show provides us with a forum to inform trade visitors of the services offered by DCL, as well as to detail the foundations upon which the various governmental regulations are based. This process is an important step in building awareness about the need for quality testing, standardization and accreditation. On the other hand, at the Arab Lab and Instrumentation Show, our effort is to acquire in-depth knowledge of the cutting-edge innovations and improved technologies that have the potential to refine our testing procedures, and increase the error-free rating of our tests,' he said.
