The recognition came from the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) at a corporate gala dinner at Jumeirah Beach Club when Bassem Terkawi, PR & Events Manager, Dubai Festival City, received an EEG award.

"Dubai Festival City is one of the world's biggest inner-city developments and this requires painstaking planning in everything we do in order to ensure strict adherence to environmental and sustainable best practice," said Terkawi.

Approximately 250 local and international corporate heads and UAE government officials attended the 8th EEG corporate gala dinner, which was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of the Emirates Group.

"This is our chance to express our appreciation to EEG associate members for their huge contribution towards the advancement of sustainable development in Dubai and the UAE," said Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson, EEG.

"As one of our corporate associate members, Dubai Festival City is one of our most ardent supporters and is actively promoting sustainable development practices."

About Dubai Festival City:
Dubai Festival City is being developed on 1,600 acres on the banks of Dubai's historic Creek. Comprising 15 distinct development zones, Dubai Festival City is a property development by the Al-Futtaim Group and is the Middle East's largest, privately-funded, mixed-use, real estate project.

It will comprise a unique mix of entertainment, dining, shopping, edutainment, sport and leisure facilities, automotive dealerships, hotels, a marina, residential and office components.

The first phase of construction is well advanced with the Al Badia Golf Resort, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by world-renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones II LLC, surrounded by Mediterranean-style apartments and town homes which are already being leased.

Work is also well advanced on the development's centreplace Festival Centre, the 2,000,000 square feet retail, dining and entertainment centre, set on a Creekside marina. Foundation work has also begun on the InterContinental Hotel Dubai Festival City, an iconic convention hotel situated on the north-west peninsula of the marina.

The Four Seasons Hotel Dubai, which will open in the first half of 2007, is the latest addition to Dubai Festival City. The hotel will have 250 rooms and villas, a destination spa, five restaurants and a range of conference and banqueting facilities.
