Exhibitors from the globe and the region will be launching a wide range of new-generation products for laboratory applications at ArabLab the EXPO, the annual international trade fair dedicated to the Middle East laboratory and instrumentation industry.

The exhibition, which will be held from January 31 to February 3, 2005, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC), was inaugurated today (Monday, January 31, 2005 by Qasim Sultan Al-Banna, Chairman of the Dubai Department of Medical Services (DOHMS) Board and Director General of Dubai Municipality.

Speaking at the inauguration, Qasim Sultan stated: 'The exhibitions industry is one of the largest contributors to Dubai's economy. ArabLab 2005 has grown by 30 to 40 per cent with regards to number of exhibitors compared to last year with a whole host of new products and solutions being introduced in the Middle East. The show is instrumental in helping Dubai establish its position as medical tourism hub.'

'The medical sector is in continuous development and the facilities available in the emirate are on par with the Western world. Patients can expect world-class treatment and facilities, due to the stellar efforts of DOHM and Dubai Municipality,' he continued.

'The Arab Lab and Instrumentation Show serves as a strategic platform for global and regional exhibitors to showcase new technologies targeting the Middle East and North Africa region,' David Domoney, Managing Director of THE DOMUS GROUP, organisers of the show. 'This year, an impressive line-up of exhibitors are set to unveil unique products, enhancing further the status of the show and enabling trade visitors to watch various demonstrations of technological advances under one roof. One of the highlights of the show is that the exhibits go beyond healthcare to areas like education.'

ArabLab and Instrumentation, with a history dating back to 20 years, is one of the industry's leading exhibitions and the only international trade fair dedicated to laboratory equipment and instrumentation in the MENA region. This year, the show has expanded its exhibitor base to cover six key areas: Automation, Instrumentation, Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Robotics and Diagnostics.

Flores Valles, a Spanish company specialising in lab furniture and fume hoods, will launch Adiprol, a new line of fume hood lining with high chemical resistance properties, complemented by a 100 per cent fire proof lining to ensure users against one of the major risks in a laboratory: Fire. The Adiprol Fume Hood caters to a wide range of lab-specific applications and evolving needs of research needs of research centres, universities and schools.

Hana Medical Supplies L.L.C, a UAE-based company dealing in supplying laboratory, scientific and medical Instruments and consumables, will be launching a new range of Scientific Digital Cameras from a Danish company. Hana Medical Supplies covers the entire Gulf through channel partners in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

'Our digital video and still cameras will introduce trade visitors to new advancements. These cameras offer the highest resolution still images at a very low cost, compared to dedicated microscope digital cameras', said Mr. H.B. Vincent, CEO, HMS. 'These consumer handheld cameras are recommended for routine micrograph, especially as a replacement for instant film.

Hana Medical Supplies will also be showing new Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) apparatus and kits, new Chlorine Analyser, Advanced pH , Conductivity , DO, TDS & ORP products related to environmental monitoring under the Hanna Instruments brand, Liquid handling and Electrophoresis products for the Bio technology market from Witeg and advanced Polarimeters from Schmidt-Haensch for educational institutions.

Sahara Medical & Scientific Supplies is another exhibitor that will highlight its advanced lab equipments, including microscopes, data logging systems and diverse scientific and educational equipment.

'Arab Lab is a major platform to project ourselves as a supplier of high quality products, not only for the laboratory & scientific sector but also educational applications,' said Najeh Eissa, Managing Partner, Sahara Medical & Scientific Supplies. 'We are looking forward to expanding our base to the whole of the Gulf and North African regions, having established ourselves in the markets of UAE, Oman, Qatar, Libya and Syria.'

U.S based exhibitors Buck Scientific Inc. are targeting the oil industry in the Middle East for its Atomic Absorption System, an instrument that can be used to measure metals in the oil feed (or raw oil) and in the residual oil. The company's stand will also feature the IR for fingerprinting the oil of organic compounds and for measuring water or soil that is contaminated with petroleum, generally used to gauge environmental damage.

CALTROLS Middle East is introducing a new Digital test gauge, the XP2i, the only product in its class available in the market with ATEX certification, specially designed to be used in field and Hazardous Environments, specially for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Laboratory Testing & Quality Assurance. This product is now a standard for NASA's Space Shuttles, BOEING's Aircrafts, AIR New Zealand and other Major Aerospace Companies. The XP2i is important for the Middle East region as it is designed to operate in weather conditions from -10 Deg Centigrade to 50 Deg Centigrade without any effect.

ArabLab 2005 has attracted more than 700 industry professionals from over 60 countries, including Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Spain, the U.K, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand.
