Revenue declared for Almasa IT Distribution in 2004 was 332 million dollar.

When asked why Almasa had displayed such strong performance, Mehdi Amjad, Managing Director of the Almasa Group commented, "I believe that there are two main reasons; focus and infrastructure. We have a clear focus within IT Distribution on 3 distinct product areas, which we have placed into the divisions of PC Storage, 3C and PC & Peripherals.

Each vendor has been strategically selected to complement the others within each sector. We have increased vendor distribution contracts across each of the divisions without losing focus on our existing vendor portfolio. This has been demonstrated by the fact that we have increased sales across all of our vendors. By not sacrificing individual vendors we have proved that we can create new positive trends in the market instead of following existing ones".

He added, "It is also crucial that we achieve efficiency in our back office operations to support and enhance our sales success. Our IT infrastructure, which we continuously invest in, enables us to respond to our customers more quickly. Being quick and efficient in our decision making is reflected in the speed of our service. However, it is not only our IT, but also our distribution infrastructure, that enables us to respond to our customers effectively. With 2 main hubs in Dubai & Amsterdam, and sub hubs that complement them, we are able to get product to the channel faster than ever before".

Almasa's PC Storage division alone experienced a 70% increase in EMEA sales. Almasa crossed the sales threshold of 1 million drives by the end of 2004, the total market size according to IDC is 7 million. That means Almasa commands 14% of the EMEA PC storage market which it is looking to grow to 20% market share by the end of 2005. Almasa are already the 2nd largest Maxtor distributor having only signed total EMEA distribution of their products in March of this year.

Almasa's plans for continued growth are set to continue into 2005, Mehdi Amjad comments, "Growth will be driven by a number of factors, including logistics improvements, new vendor relationships, technology advancements and increased marketing support for the channel. We will continue to focus on our core product ranges and key geographical markets of North & East Africa and Middle East. As one of the largest IT distributors in the region we will continue to provide products to the channel fast. This speed combined with competitive prices will provide our vendors with the most effective and efficient distribution in the region".

Almasa IT Distribution is estimated to be one of the largest technology hardware distributors in the Middle East.
