At a press conference today, Banyan Tree Group Executive Chairman, Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, said: "The Middle East, and in particular Dubai, offers an abundance of cultural and natural resources which makes for an ideal tourism destination and in turn a sound business investment on our part. We have unveiled our expansion plans in the region with the ultimate goal of building the brand and strengthening our portfolio".

The Singapore based hotel management and investment group is spearheading a massive development drive in the UAE that will see seven new properties within the next coming few years. Management and lease agreements with a number of leading regional developers including Emaar properties, Dubai Properties and Muzoon Holdings have been negotiated.

In addition to the Angsana Spa & Health Club Dubai Marina, the group's partnership with Emaar will introduce three additional Angsana Spas at the Montgomerie Golf Course, Arabian Ranches and Emirates Hill in the second quarter of this year. Other Banyan Tree ventures will see the development of a Banyan Tree Resort & Spa at Jumeirah beach, a Banyan Tree Spa at The Esplanade, as well as a Banyan Tree Hotel and super luxurious serviced apartments complete with personal spa facilities on the Sheikh Zayed road.

The group's regional expansion drive will also feature an Angsana Spa and Angsana Spa Golf Club in El Gouna, Egypt, an Elements Spa by Banyan Tree in Kuwait as well as a Banyan Tree Resort and Spa in Morocco.

"We believe that the entry of the Banyan Tree and Angsana brands will bring a new standard of lifestyle experience to the region. This Asian-inspired lifestyle retreat, backed by multiple awards and accolades, is well-recognised by our international clientele," added Executive Chairman Ho.

On an international level, Banyan Tree Group has also recently announced a massive expansion plan for resort and spa developments. In addition to the two resort projects that are well underway in China, the company has recently opened its first Angsana Spa in Malaysia and signed on agreements to develop resorts in Greece, Mexico, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

The contemporary, holistic and non-clinical Angsana Spa was launched in 2000 to enable parent company, Banyan Tree Spa, to diversify its business operations to other areas of spa operations and management. Angsana owns and manages a spa in all of its properties and operates another five establishments in Phuket, namely, the Dusit Laguna, Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, Laguna Beach Resort, Allamanda Laguna Phuket and Green View Chiangmai. It is also available worldwide in Thailand, Australia, Guam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Sri Lanka, Ireland, South Africa, Malaysia, Egypt, Laos and the United Arab Emirates.
