Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation Dubai and Chairman, Emirates Airline, the exhibition is attracting leading companies from the airport build and supply industry with products ranging from x-ray security systems, airfield lighting and passenger boarding bridges to transponder loading systems and voice communication equipment.

'The Middle East airport development sector is riding the crest of a wave with billions of dollars earmarked for expanding and upgrading regional airports over the next five years,' said Joanne Evans, Director of Streamline Marketing, organisers of the event.

'This event has been created specifically to cater to new airport development projects in the Middle East, giving exhibitors the chance to meet with decision makers from many of the region's airports,'

With plans revealed for a Terminal 3 and a budget of US$2.5 billion, the event will once again look at Dubai International Airport and its phenomenal growth plans, but also regional DCAs which include Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

High on the list will be Bahrain International Airport, whose DCA will be attending the show to promote the expansion and upgrading of its existing runways, the construction of a new air traffic control tower as well as the construction of a new satellite terminal. Similarly Qatar Department of Civil Aviation and Kuwait Civil Aviation will use the opportunity to discuss their ongoing development programmes.

Other projects under the microscope will include regional development plans ranging from Egypt to other UAE emirates and Yemen.

'During the exhibition, meetings will be organised between exhibitors and airport project consultants, enabling exhibitors to discuss specific tender packages and present their products, services and technologies directly to project decision makers,' added Joanne Evans.

The Middle East Airport Build & Supply Exhibition will take place at the Airport Expo Dubai from 3-5 June 2002. The associated Middle East Aviation Journal Conference will take place at Le Meridien Airport Hotel on 2nd June 2002.
