The World Health Organisation
The World Health Organisation is the United Nations' specialised agency for health. Established in 1948, it aims to ensure the highest possible standards of health and social well-being throughout the world. The WHO is involved in rapid health assessments along the coast of Aceh. These cover a range of vital health needs such as water, sanitation injuries, food and vaccines. The teams are assessing the needs and will develop a targeted relief effort.

UNICEF
Dubai UNICEF has mobilised to support relief efforts locally and in the region. They are establishing a hub of cooperation with Dubai Aid City who will help in facilitating efforts to transport the emergency medical supplies to the needy.

Dubai Aid City
Dubai Aid City - the recently launched UAE based government body, has assumed the role of facilitator for the benefit of international regional and local humanitarian and development organisations for people in need of aid.

Background to the Dubai Opera Ball
The world famous Vienna Opera Ball is coming to the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai on Thursday 17 February 2005. After Vienna and New York, Dubai will be the third official venue to host this sumptuous event. Organised as a charity event, it will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. In line with the Vienna Opera Ball, proceeds will be donated to the Tsunami Victims' Fund.

Officially endorsed by the Vienna Opera Ball, Austria, this unique event will bring the magic of Vienna and Austrian ancient tradition to the U.A.E. Guests will enjoy the authentic Viennese-style ball, having the same features as the original 'Wiener Opernball' at the Vienna State Opera: Austrian culinary delights, the festive entrance of the debutantes and their partners and even the original Opera Ball Orchestra, flown in just for this glittering and romantic evening.
