The conference will serve as a telecommunications forum focusing on the latest issues affecting the industry and providing an update on the past year's developments across both the fixed-line and mobile sectors. Hundreds of delegates will have the opportunity to take part in round-table discussions, listen as industry experts share their experiences and learn from telecoms specialists who have worked in markets all over the world.

"Batelco is delighted to sponsor the MEED Middle East Telecoms conference," says Tony Hart, Chief Executive at Batelco. "Bahrain is a particularly suitable venue for this year's event given that our telecommunications industry has gone through complete liberalization during the last year or so - an unprecedented pace by international standards. The result is a vibrant, competitive market where we provide our customers with outstanding service and an unrivalled range of products."

Conference attendees will be able to attend panel discussions on a wide variety of relevant topics including the future of the Internet in the Middle East, growth in newly competitive markets, developing successful bidding strategies, retaining and expanding a customer base, and overcoming the interconnectivity challenges in the Middle East and North Africa, among others.

In addition, there will be overviews of the telecoms markets in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egpt - together with case studies from several different countries including Egypt and Tunisia.

A round table discussion will take place on the achievements and future challenges of market liberalization. The discussion will include examining a variety of markets across the region, outlining progress made to date and looking to the future of market liberalization.

The conference will also enable delegates to learn more about recent technology developments driving the market, including: GPRS, Mobile Data, WiFi, Wi-LAN, WCDMA and EDGE with a view to exploring which types of mobile data applications will prove successful and cost-effective in the region.

"The conference organisers have put together an impressive agenda that covers many of the most interesting and important areas relating to telecommunications in our region," explains Tony. "Delegates will be able to speak with - and learn from - some of the most highly-respected individuals in our industry. They will have the chance to exchange ideas and develop rewarding business relationships, as well as come away with a wealth of telecommunications knowledge."

"The high-calibre of speakers at this conference - together with the informative and comprehensive agenda - makes it an ideal sponsorship for Batelco. We wish the organisers every success and look forward to an enriching and fulfilling conference for each and every one of the delegates."
