Dubai shines at Spanish International Travel and Tourism Fair

Dubai was in the spotlight at the recently held Spanish International Travel and Tourism Fair, Fitur 2005 as hundreds of visitors thronged to the emirate's stand at the show.

The exhibition was part of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM)'s continuous endeavour to showcase Dubai's excellent tourist facilities to the European travel industry, with the support of Dubai's public and private sectors.

The Dubai stand at Fitur 2005 was put up by the DTCM along with the co-participation of 11 tourism and hospitality organisations including the Net Group of Companies, Gulf Circle Tours, Alpha Tours, Passage to Arabia, Knight Tours, Travco travel Dubai, Arabian adventures, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa, Emirates Airlines and Grand Hyatt Dubai.

Mr. Saleh Al Geziry, DTCM Executive Overseas Promotion, who represented the department, said, "Europe is an important growth market for Dubai's tourism industry. We participated in Fitur 2005 to increase awareness on Dubai's unrivalled tourist facilities among the Spanish travel trade."

In 2005, DTCM is participating in 31 exhibitions, and conducting 12 road shows across the world, a 70 per cent increase over 2004, to secure Dubai's leading position on the world tourism map.

"The Dubai pavilion received significant interest from the Spanish travel trade, tourists and dignitaries in Spain. Exhibitions such as Fitur, present an ideal opportunity for us to showcase Dubai and interact closely with several members of the travel trade," he continued.
Among the prominent visitors to the Dubai pavilion were H.E Mr. Abdulla Seraj, Jordanian Ambassador, H.E Mr. Samir Mubarak, Head of the Arab Diplomatic Delegation and Ambassador of Lebanon in Madrid, H.R.H. Prince Saoud bin Naif bin AbdulAziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia Ambassador in Madrid, H.H Dr. Sheikh Salem Al Jaber Al Ahmed Al Subah, Kuwait Ambassador in Madrid, H.E. Sultan M. Al Qortasi Al Noaimi, the UAE Ambasador in Madrid, Mr. Rashed Bakheet Al Mansoori, UAE Embassy Counsellor and Mr. Majed Al Falasi, member of the UAE Embassy among others.

The UAE embassy played a vital role in ensuring the success of Dubai's participation at the show. The stand also welcomed VIP delegations from the cities of Ceuta and Aragon respectively.
