The NW-HD3 comes with a 20GB hard drive, which can store up to 13,000 four-minute songs or 900 CDs worth of music, and features 30 hours of battery life.

"For the first time in the Middle East, consumers will be able to see for themselves the style and quality of Sony's Hard Disk Network Walkman," said Mr. Masaomi Ando, Manager, Personal Audio Product Marketing, Sony Gulf FZE "Its contemporary style, technological excellence and outstanding battery life makes the NW-HD3 an ideal device for consumers to bring their music with them anywhere they go."

The NW-HD3 (90 x 62.1 x 14.8mm) weighs a mere 130g even with its internal rechargeable battery included. Its small aluminum body belies its outstanding battery life, providing up to 30 hours of uninterrupted playtime. Sony's specially developed G-Sensor technology enables the hard disk to effectively resist impact protecting valuable music or other data. The same technology also helps the NW-HD3 to withstand almost all kinds of movement to deliver a skip-free performance.

Available in five stylish colours - silver, blue, pink, red and black - the NW-HD3 offers direct playback for ATRAC3plus and MP3 files, giving users multiple playback choices for greater convenience.

The new Network Walkman connects to a compatible computer via a USB 2.0 digital interface for high-speed music transfers. It comes bundled with SonicStage® software, which makes it easy to import, manage and transfer music collections.

The NW-HD3 will be retailing for $380 (AED 1399) at all Jumbo showrooms and selected retailers from February 2005.

ATRAC3plus
ATRAC3plus is Sony's audio compression technology. You can choose different levels of compression when you record music from CDs onto your PC using SonicStage software. ATRAC3plus has been developed to offer the best sound quality.

G-Sensor
G-Sensor technology monitors and calculates the gravitational velocity of NW-HD3 in its three dimensions (height, width and depth); the sensor device clears the recording head away from the hard disk when the unit receives physical impact during operation. As a result, recorded content is protected by preventing the recording head from potentially scratching the hard disk surface.

SonicStage 2.3
SonicStage 2.3 software allows music to be compressed at 256kbps for close-to-CD quality sound and also easily manage play lists or track information created in the jukebox. Additionally, SonicStage jukebox supports and seamlessly converts many Internet audio formats, including MP3, WMA and WAV files.
