DTCM highlights Dubai's MICE achievements to leading German MICE publication

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing updated TW Tagungs Wirtschact's Convention Industry magazine, one the leading MICE publications in Germany, about the emirate's growth and achievements in the MICE sector.

The Department hosted Convention Industry magazine's Editor, Mr. Karl-Heinz Angst on his four-day visit, which included meetings with senior officials from DTCM, and leading five-star hotels and convention centers in Dubai.

The visit was coordinated by Mr. Ahmed Othman, Officer, Mission Department, DTCM.

Mr. Angst, who came to Dubai via Emirates Airlines, visited hotels such as Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa, the Fairmont, Grand Hyatt, Royal Mirage, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Sofitel City Center Hotel, Novotel World Trade Center And Burj Al Arab. He also met with officials from Emirates Airlines, International Convention Center, and was taken on a city tour hosted by Arabian Adventures.

Mr. Angst was impressed with the DTCM's concerted efforts to secure Dubai's position as the preferred international MICE destination. A special report on the emirate's MICE section will be published in the forthcoming ITB edition of Convention Industry magazine.

Dubai's MICE sector is one of the biggest drivers in attracting business and leisure tourists. The emirate boasts of a well-equipped airport, numerous hotel and conference facilities, and high-tech security measures, combined with year-round sunshine and a pro-business climate.

In terms of exhibitions alone, Dubai hosts an average of 85 major international exhibitions every year. Dubai was recently voted World's best conference venue in the Business Travel World Awards. Some of the major events held in Dubai include Dubai Air show, Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament, Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), Dubai Air show, INDEX, the Motor Show and GITEX
