Professor from the University of Cardiff UK, to give lecture at The British University in Dubai

On Sunday 13th February, Professor Phil Jones from the University of Cardiff, UK, will be giving a lecture titled, Building a Sustainable Future, which will explore sustainable approaches to the design and construction of buildings.
Construction and architecture are changing the face of the United Arab Emirates. The countless projects underway in Dubai and the surrounding Emirates, are transforming the landscape of the UAE and playing an important role in its development into a leading global centre.
Commenting on the lecture Professor Jones said, 'The issues that I will be addressing in this lecture are particularly significant for Dubai at this time. The lecture will look at the holistic approach to construction and design - it will describe advanced computer and scale modelling tools for designing the environment both in and around buildings' He continued, 'Due to the immense number of projects currently underway here, construction is an important topic. This lecture will focus on the importance of making buildings sustainable and built to last through means of effective design and construction.'
Professor Jones is Professor of Architectural Science at the University of Cardiff, and Head of the Welsh School of Architecture. In addition to his academic work, Professor Jones is currently working on research projects in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and Malaysia. He is President of the International Society of the Built Environment (ISBE) and is a member of the UK Building Regulation Advisory Committee (BRAC).
Professor Jones' lecture is the latest in a series of open lectures held by BUiD. These lectures are open to the public and free to attend.

Emirates Group recently announced its support for the University by partnering through a financial contribution.
