United Kingdom - RAF Valley
RAF Valley is home to No. 4 Flying Training School, the only Advanced Flying Training and Tactics Unit in the UK responsible for training all RAF and RN fast jet pilots to the front line.

The No. 4 Flying Training School trains its own Qualified Flying Instructors, Qualified Tactics Instructors and Qualified Weapons Instructors, as well as providing training for Foreign and Commonwealth pilots. Following an extensive global evaluation process, Ocean's Flight Pro Software was chosen to manage the Operations.

RAF Valley has benefited significantly through the efficiency gains provided by Flight Pro, keeping both 208 and 19 Squadrons, the outsourced BAE Simulator operations and the rest of the Base personnel up to date in real time with changes as they occur.

The school expects, through the use of Flight Pro, to graduate at least one additional trained pilot per year, providing a significant return on investment.

'...WITHOUT FLIGHTPRO WE COULD NEVER HAVE ACHIEVED THE OUTPUT (FLYING RATE)
THAT WE CURRENTLY ACHIEVE TODAY.'

Canada - NFTC
The NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC), split across the two geographic locations of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and Cold Lake Alberta, is responsible for Phase II, III and IV pilot training and supporting over 7 NATO member countries.

The combination of the large quantities of airspace, good ranges of operating weather conditions, various participating nations and complexity of operation yielded an increasing management overhead that Flight Pro was selected to address.

While NFTC's operating requirements differed from those of other client's, the flexibility of Flight Pro allowed NFTC to move seamlessly across from manual to electronic processes. Flight Pro allows each client to benefit from the same world-wide release version while still supporting unique operating needs.

Being a leading demonstrator of Military and Commercial partnering, the need for NFTC to capture accurate mission outcome information was paramount to the success of their operation. Flight Pro provided the necessary single point of data entry for electronic authorisation and mission hours capture necessary to monitor both Operations billing performance and Student progression.

Canada - ADCTS
Advanced Distributed Combat Training System

In 2004, the Canadian Forces embraced a project to provide sophisticated F-18 simulators to support long term operation cost savings, increases in operational readiness and enhancements to International cooperation.

As a project of up to $200-million, and deployed across two disparate locations Cold Lake and Bagotville in Canada, it represented a significant financial commitment to the current and future F-18 Operations of the Canadian Forces.

The simulators can be cross linked between the two geographic locations as well as unplugged, transported and used at remote International locations. The simulators will support the modernisation of the F-18 fleet by modelling the updated aircraft and weapons systems further improving safety and effective utilisation of expensive airborne assets.

Flight Pro was selected to manage the scheduling and utilitsation, personnel currency and qualifications, training records, usage history and communication between all the Squadron simulator users at both sites. Terminals accessible to all Defence Squadron participants, as well as the contracted simulator providers, will dramatically assist in optimising the usage of the simulators to gain the maximum benefit.

Extensions to deploy Flight Pro to manage the daily F-18 flying programme would further improve the efficiency of the operations and move towards a single point of data entry for all operation activities.

Australia - RAAF Base Pearce
Located north of Perth in Western Australia, Pearce hosts both Number 2 Flight Training School (2FTS), using PC9 aircraft, and 25 Squadron flying Hawks. Good weather conditions and reasonable airspace allocations allow the school to operate consistently throughout the year.

2FTS is responsible for taking trainee pilots from the outsourced Basic Flying Training center in Tamworth New South Wales and continuing their education up to graduation and receiving their wings.

As the busiest flying Base in the RAAF, the need to efficiently manage their activities, communication and information load. Having used Flight Pro since 1994, 2FTS have year's worth of accurate flying and course progression statistics that assist in modelling future activities and answering higher level Command enquiries on historical trends.

The introduction of Flight Pro allowed the Squadron to release the time of 4 Qualified Flying Instructors (QFIs) back to their primary duty of student instruction as well as streamline the non-flying processes for Instructional personnel.
