The French group will present insights into the latest technologies in infantryman integration; surveillance and tracking from land, sea and air - including thermal imaging; air defence systems, and tactical sighting.

'In light of the new global security environment and its impact on governments and institutions around the world, the need for next-generation tools to secure borders and installations has never been greater. SAGEM's technological expertise in these fields continues to live up to the expectations of military and security personnel in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and beyond,' said SAGEM's Marketing and Communication Director, Jean-Charles Pignot.

Key technologies on display at IDEX include SAGEM's FELIN (future integrated infantryman) system, which offers a high-performance communications, optronics and body armour battle dress to infantry, a major step toward the network-centric warfare concept of the future. With better communications and localisation system as well as more powerful sighting equipment, the soldier is no longer isolated in the field, but can play an active role in decision making.

SAGEM also will be presenting its 12-hours-in-the-sky Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems, which provide military and security forces with real-time observation and reconnaissance of borders, coasts, off-shore facilities and sensitive sites for anti-terror and anti-narcotics tracking, tactical planning and rescue operations.

Visitors to SAGEM's stand also can learn about the company's thermal imaging systems, which offer third-generation focal plane array infrared detection in a range of cameras, offering reliable, compact, light-weight and silent performance, day and/or night.

Among the other cutting-edge equipment set for discussion at the SAGEM stand is gunner and commander sights for main battle tanks (MBTs); inertial navigation systems for land and naval applications and passive air defence Infrared Search and Tracking (IRST) systems.

'We have a strong commitment to our partners here in the Middle East and to serving their civilian and military technology needs. We look forward to extending our relationships and putting our world-class equipment in the service of governments and residents of this region,' added Jean-Luc Hidalgo, SAGEM's International Affairs Director.

SAGEM is active in the Middle East, with contracts in place for a number of military systems, optronic systems for naval applications, upgrading systems for land vehicles (MBT) and a wide range of systems dedicated to border and national security services.
