C H Lee takes over at LG Gulf

In a move to further increase market penetration across the GCC, global and regional digital leader LG Electronics has appointed C H Lee as the new President of its Gulf Operations.
A veteran in the Middle East with well-established channel relationships, Lee has worked for LG in Egypt and Iran. During Lee's tenure as the General Manager in Egypt from 1990 to 1995, LG became the best selling TV brand in the country. After a two-year stint at the LG headquarters in Korea from 1995-97 as the General Manager of the TV Export Team, Lee moved to Iran in 1997. He launched LG's operations in Iran and grew to become the company's leading regional market. From 2002 to 2004, Lee was the General Manager of LG's Monitor Division handling continental America (North & South) & China.
As the President of LG's Gulf Operations, Lee will be responsible for expediting growth in the region and for spearheading the company into the next level of its growth. LG Gulf has registered a 48 percent increase in sales turnover last year from US $ 246 million in 2003 to US $ 364 million in 2004.
"With Lee's track record and business experience, we are confident that he will be able to grow our business in the region as it enters a new phase of development. The Middle East and Africa region is a strategic market for LG Electronics and contributes significantly to LG's global results. For 2005, LG is targeting overall regional sales of US $ 2.8 billion, a 34 percent growth over 2004. Lee's appointment comes at a time when we have seen considerable growth and opportunity for LG and our growing community of partners," said K H Kim, President, LG Electronics, Middle East and Africa Operations.

"My main aim is to strengthen LG's market leading position by rolling out technologically advanced products to cater to the demands of this market. We are aiming to achieve sales turnover of US $ 100 million in notebook sales and US $ 300 million in handset sales the Middle East and Africa region this year; I want to ensure we meet our targets."
