Tempus 2000 and emergency assistance provider MedAire, Inc. have created a benchmark in luxurious, secure travel when it comes to assistance with onboard medical emergencies.

Royal Jet aircraft are equipped with the innovative medical tool, Tempus 2000, an integrated telemedicine device capable of measuring and transmitting blood pressure, pulse, oxygenation levels, carbon dioxide levels, respiration rate, temperature, 12-lead ECG and a video picture of onboard patients. The device then transmits its findings to doctors inside MedAire's MedLink Global Response Centre. With worldwide concerns ranging from suspected heart attack to a simple fainting episode, MedAire's MedLink Service takes between 90 and 100 emergency calls every day from aircraft in-flight and on the ground around the world.

"Medical emergencies can happen to anyone on board a commercial or private jet," said Ammar Balkar, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Royal Jet. "An added benefit that completes our luxurious aircraft is the addition of medical tools such as Tempus 2000 and MedLink, which provide extra value to the service offered for our VIP passengers."

Incase of a medical emergency onboard, Tempus 2000 connects the Royal Jet flight with the MedLink Centre. MedLink allows all Royal Jet aircraft direct in-flight access to U.S. board-certified emergency physicians and specialists.

In April of 2003 MedAire, Inc. had a sucessful lifesaving incident after an electrocardiogram (ECG) reading was transmitted remotely from the flight to hospital-based physicians working in MedAire's MedLink Global Response Centre. The transmission was the first time when a passenger's vital sign data was successfully used to diagnose and treat a heart attack victim on a flight from Chicago to Manchester. MedAire's ground-based physicians in Phoenix, Arizona were able to make an immediate diagnosis of heart attack and advise appropriate treatment through the ECG transmission which resluted in the onboard staff utilizing all of the appropriate onboard medical resources in support of the passenger.

"We are proud to have been the first VIP charter operator in the Gulf to introduce this service on board our aircraft. This is a service that further enhances our continuous commitment towards providing the highest standards of medical services and catering towards the safety and security of our customers," added Balkar.

In addition to the Tempus 2000 and MedLink services, Royal Jet also operates Royal Med, the Air Ambulance and Medevac division, which will be an active participant at Arab Health 2005 boasting its high-tech medical services. Royal Med has a worldwide reach that can serve destinations in the Middle East, US, Europe, Asia, and the Far East.
