GE Healthcare reaffirms commitment to Middle East healthcare with breakthrough imaging technologies
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, February 13 - 2005 at 15:09
- PRESS RELEASE
A world leader in diagnostic imaging technologies, GE Healthcare, today launches its broad portfolio of innovative imaging technologies at Arab Health 2005 in Dubai including LightSpeed VCT, Vivid i, Infinia, Senographe DS and HDMR - the world's first high definition magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system.
Reiterating the company's continuous commitment to the region's healthcare industry, Steve Bolze, President & CEO, GE Healthcare Technologies International, said the Middle East is a region which holds tremendous potential for the company and GE Healthcare is playing a significant role in enhancing the quality of healthcare available to patients in the region. Prior to his current role in 2003, Bolze was appointed Vice President, Amersham Integration, responsible for driving acquisition integration planning and execution related to GE's purchase of Amersham PLC. The resulting company, GE Healthcare, was launched in 2004.
"With the increasing demands on health care systems worldwide, GE is focusing its efforts on personalized healthcare, helping to enable medical practitioners to predict, diagnose, inform and treat diseases at an earlier stage and even sometimes before they even occur. In this respect, GE Healthcare is at the forefront of a new approach to patient care and brings a unique set of capabilities which will bring about a new chapter of medicine," Bolze said.
"GE has been present in the region since the 1930's and we wish to emphasize our strong local presence in addition to our enduring relationships with key customers. Together, we will work with our strategic partners to raise the standards of healthcare in the Middle East by providing the knowledge and technological expertise necessary for healthcare to soar to new levels," added Jean-Marc Andral, Vice-President and General Manager-Middle East & Africa.
GE Healthcare unveiled its breakthrough diagnostic imaging systems including the LightSpeed™ VCT, the world's first volume computed tomography (VCT) CT scanner and the Vividi™, the new generation of cardiovascular ultrasound products which gives clinicians the freedom to obtain diagnostic results outside of the echo lab. The LightSpeed™ VCT features a 0.35 second rotation and 40 millimeter coverage, enabling true volumetric scanning of the heart in only five beats.
Furthermore, GE Healthcare is also showcasing the new and advanced systems which support personalized healthcare including the Senographe DS system, which takes digital mammography to the next level by setting new benchmarks for ease-of-use, patient comfort, image quality, versatility, digital workflow integration and investment security. The continuously evolving needs of patient care will also be met with GE's latest addition to nuclear medicine - Infinia - an advanced state-of-the-art nuclear imaging system designed to accelerate the entire imaging process and boost productivity and integrating workflow and which promises to be the most versatile and hardworking nuclear medicine system available today.
As a gold sponsor of the Middle East Imaging and Diagnostic Congress, running concurrently with the annual healthcare exhibition, GE Healthcare is also providing medical professionals with the opportunity to learn about new techniques and diagnostic imaging applications. Through special workshops, healthcare providers had the opportunity to benefit from presentations and case studies on MRI and CT (Computed Tomography) imaging in addition to the clinical benefits for cardio-vascular acquisition with Volume Computed Tomography (VCT).
Arab Health is the annual international hospital, medical equipment and services exhibition and conference running until February 15. GE Healthcare's products can be seen on the company stand (Hall 4 - Stand 4011) at the exhibition in the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
