43 UAE nationals graduate from Standard Chartered induction programme

Forty-three UAE nationals have graduated from Standard Chartered's Entry Level Banking Curriculum (ELBC), a banking induction course developed in conjunction with the National Human Resource and Employment Authority, Tanmia.
"ELBC gives new recruits every chance of achieving success within our organisation," said Ray Ferguson, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered UAE.
"Staff training and development is a vital component to any business and in order to help our new Emirati staff settle in, we need to provide them with the skills and knowledge required to prosper in this industry."
Organisation Learning, Standard Chartered's in-house training department, designed the course that comprises of four modules and combines work experience with off-site training sessions. It lasts five weeks and includes Banking Basics, Banking Products, Legal Aspects of Banking, Personal Development and English for Banking.
"In order to effectively serve our customers, we need a strong local workforce," said Ferguson. "Through this induction programme, the bank is giving our UAE national staff every opportunity to adapt to life at Standard Chartered and progress in the future.
"A strong national workforce is vital for the continued development of the UAE's economy, and as one of the longest serving international banks in the country, it is important for Standard Chartered to play a role in this process."
Ayesh Al Barguthi, Director of the Employment and Skills Development Centre at Tanmia, urged the graduates at the ceremony to take a long-term view and work hard to develop their professional skills.
"You are at the beginning of your professional lives and Standard Chartered is an organisation which gives you enormous scope for development", he said.
The bank employs 30,000 people in 50 countries around the world and encourages UAE national staff to explore the possibilities of moving abroad to any of its 500 global locations.
