The new technology continues to build on the group's heritage of delivering high-quality, reliable mobile products. To coincide with the introduction, the company has launched five new professional notebook PCs equipped with Toshiba EasyGuard. These include the Portege M300, Tecra A3, Tecra A4, Tecra M3 and the Tecra S2 (see separate releases).

Supporting the company's vision to introduce the intelligence of computing into daily life, Toshiba EasyGuard incorporates new Toshiba-developed technologies that enable optimal connectivity and security together with the company's anti-accident innovations and advanced software features for carefree mobile computing.

Toshiba EasyGuard is built around three key element areas, under which the corresponding tools, features and functionalities have been designed to provide maximum benefit to today's professional notebook user:

1. Secure - Features that deliver enhanced system and data security
2. Protect & Fix - Protective design features and diagnostics utilities for maximum uptime
3. Connect - Features and software to ensure easy and reliable wired and wireless connectivity

Ahmed Khalil, general manager of Toshiba Middle East and Africa, said: "Toshiba is well known for combining technology innovation and design into its mobile products, and Toshiba EasyGuard is the next logical step in our strategy of making ubiquitous networking a reality.

"With Toshiba EasyGuard we continue to set new standards in the industry for mobile computing performance, reliability and ease of use."

With notebook sales rapidly outstripping those of desktop PCs, mobile computing continues to be a key growth driver of the PC industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) .

At the same time, total cost of ownership (TCO) on notebooks is still greater than on desktops by anywhere from between 34 per cent and 68 per cent due to a number of reasons, including higher failure rate (yielding more downtime), higher operational costs for remote support and higher end-user costs.

Combined with the meteoric rise in mobile security risks, companies are in need of reliable mobile computing products that can help maximise uptime and keep data safe and accessible while on the move, without sacrificing performance.

Innovative Toshiba Technologies
Toshiba EasyGuard combines a more advanced set of hardware and software features than is currently available from any other vendor, helping lower the TCO associated with notebook PCs.

Features unique to Toshiba EasyGuard include:

• Shock Protection Design, built into the chassis, which features shock absorbers to protect system components and data.

• Leading-edge 3D accelerometer, combined with hard disk drive (HDD) protection, offer an enhanced impact protection solution when compared to systems without these features

• Spill Resistant Keyboards prevent system damage from accidental spills for up to 30 cc of water.

• Toshiba's patented integrated Diversity Antenna Technology enables automatic antenna selection for optimal wireless connectivity.

Khalil explained: "With the launch of Toshiba EasyGuard, Toshiba continues to demonstrate its ability to meet the increasingly demanding needs and requirements of business.

"Through significant R&D investment in innovative, new "beyond the box" technologies, Toshiba is providing professionals with a differentiated offering that reduces downtime, improves security and offers central management tools to help significantly lower TCO and increase ROI for IT decision makers."
