With the real estate sector booming in the Emirate and, as well as other GCC countries, the Director Generals endorsement of the event underlines the importance of the sector to Dubai's economy. The sector, according to one analyst, has grown from and estimated US$10 billion in 2001 to a predicted US$ 50 billion by 2010.

"We are delighted that Mr Mutaiwee will be opening the event. His inauguration of Home Owner Dubai highlights the significance of consumer demand for real estate in Dubai and the significance of the industry in the UAE", said Simon O'Herlihy, General Manager of Marketing of Motivate Events. "There are about 5,208 buildings under construction at the moment with a value of around US$ 28 billion with some 16,000 contractors and 340,000 workers employed in the sector".

"Home Owner Dubai provides a forum in which those interested in buying property, for investment or personal occupation, can see under one roof the latest developments in Dubai as well as those planned for the future", continued O'Herlihy. "In addition they can arrange finance with banks and mortgage companies, discuss legal issues with conveyancing experts, and even decide the shape and size of their swimming pool.
