Dubai International Boat Show 2005 set to attract world's leading boat manufacturers, marine suppliers and services

The show, organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is expected to attract thousands of visitors, and will feature some of the world's most exclusive crafts. The 8,500 square meter exhibition area will accommodate 400 exhibitors from 30 countries in addition to 80 berths for boats ranging from 39ft to over 200ft, making it the premier networking event for buyers to access manufacturers of boats as well as companies offering related marine equipment and services.

Commenting on the show, Helen Wynd, International Project Manger, Dubai International Boat Show, DWTC said, 'The Gulf region is emerging as a prominent boating centre with the development of a number of waterfront properties and extensive marinas. This year's show boasts more boats than ever before from the leading regional and global players as well as additional exhibition space including a new VIP area. It's the largest gathering of leisure boats, equipment and associated services in the Middle East and will go a long way in establishing the show globally as a must attend event and confirming the region as a premier boating hub.'

Countries in the Arabian Gulf are fast developing into the most mature market for the marine leisure industry, with a boat park of leisure, sailing and entertainment vessels exceeding 30,000 craft, a recent report has shown.

Report findings by Mike Derrett Marine indicates that the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar lead the GCC region as the largest and most developed market in the Middle East region with leisure fishing being one of the main drivers for leisure boating in the Gulf. Furthermore, a considerable increase in waterfront property purchasers by internationals possessing a high purchasing power is driving up the numbers of imported boats from leading European and US builders in addition to crafts from local yards.
