The company outlined its future direction for the Emirates as being the education and promotion of Web services as the application standard for communication among enterprises.

"BEA recognizes that the UAE - specifically Dubai with its emphasis on e-government - has become the de facto IT hub of the Middle East region, and we want to contribute to this growth in the IT space," said Diyaa Zebian, business development manager.

"With Dubai's large assembly of independent software vendors and progressive business organizations, BEA believes that a focus on making e-business easy and accessible for everyone is of increasing importance to the country's economy. BEA intends to work with partners and customers to make this e-business vision a reality in the Emirates," added Zebian.

BEA partners in the UAE include: Bahwan-Cybertek, CGI, Cosmos Software, Ducont.com, Emirates Computers, Future Technology, MDS, and Servion.

And BEA customers include: Cashswitch, Emirates Bank International, Etisalat Telecommunications Corporation, ITCC, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

BEA, Intel Partnership
By working with Intel, BEA is extending its platform availability for development and deployment, which is important to driving even greater penetration by BEA's application infrastructure, already the clear market leader with its WebLogic Server solution.

"Thanks to our partnership with Intel, BEA can now provide customers with an application infrastructure platform that offers industry-leading performance and low cost of ownership on all major hardware platforms, including both the 32-bit and
64-bit Intel architecture," said Scott Dietzen, chief technology officer of BEA Systems.

BEA, Intel Middle East Road Show
As part of a four-city road show seminar series, BEA and Intel executives gathered today in Dubai with partners and customers to discuss the future of e-business in the UAE, and how the two companies can contribute to this growth.

Topics discussed included: the importance of "real-time" data management; portal integration as a means of simplifying business processes; application integration to enable seamless data flow; as well as the use of 64-bit Intel architecture to support high-end, mission-critical applications necessary for e-business.

"We believe that BEA's regional expansion is largely fueled by demand for BEA solutions run on Intel platforms," said Ned Jaroudi, regional enterprise business manager, Middle East & Africa, Intel.

"Intel is delighted to be demonstrating its regional commitment to its partners and customers by participating in this BEA-sponsored regional road show," concluded Jaroudi.
