Fujitsu Siemens Computers' launch of LIFEBOOK E8020 in the Middle East coincides with launch of Intel Centrino mobile technology platform Sonoma
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 22 - 2005 at 12:37
- PRESS RELEASE
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has announced the launch of its LIFEBOOK E8020 in the Middle East which coincides with an official announcement of the new Intel Centrino mobile technology (codenamed Sonoma) and the latest Intel 915 chipset family.
In order to meet the increasingly demanding expandability requirements of Large Enterprises, the LIFEBOOK E8020 incorporates the features of the new Intel technology and the full range of traditional interfaces as well as a PC card slot alongside a separate express card slot.
As a result, the notebook offers support for existing and future components. The LIFEBOOK E8020 also features ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 graphics and 15.1-inch TFT SXGA+ display.
"The system's modular architecture means that it can be tailored to meet our Middle Eastern customers' needs. Different add-on modules, such as a DVD burner, a second battery or an additional hard disk drive, can also be easily installed in the modular bay," said Susanne Lewitzki, Product Marketing Manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
"The smooth integration of the Intel 915PM Chipset into the architecture of the LIFEBOOK E8020 allows us to capitalise on the E-series' existing features such as its outstandingly high performance and wealth of connection options," she added.
Security
The LIFEBOOK E8020 offers protection at all levels for ensuring secure communication and protecting against unauthorized use. Five hardware buttons on the security panel can be used to enter an access code, which is prompted when the system is booted. These buttons can then be used as quick touch buttons for speedy access to important functions or specific applications.
A duplicate password prompt protects the system and BIOS from unauthorized access, while an additional password protects the contents of the hard disk drive. A smart card controller is integrated in the PC card slot to allow simple use of a smart card, while an optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM) prevents unauthorised access to data and provides additional transaction protection.
The robust magnesium housing of the LIFEBOOK E8020 protects the system and the data against mechanical damage in everyday use and, as with all professional notebooks from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the LIFEBOOK E8020 is equipped with a Kensington lock interface for added security.
Manageability
The DeskView client management solution ensures that the LIFEBOOK E8020 can be easily maintained and administered. This increases the availability of the system while dramatically reducing ongoing operation costs.
Extensive functions such as inventorying, BIOS management and alarm management are already covered by the DeskView client management solution, which is part of the standard package.
More complex solutions, such as the migration of operating systems, the remote installation of application software, advanced hardware and software inventorying in multiple networks, and license management, can be realised with the optional ManageITSuite Migration and ManageIT Suite Controlling.
Ergonomics
Ease-of-use and quiet operation are just two of the key features of the LIFEBOOK E Series. The systems were developed with a view to ergonomic use and are equipped with a bright display and a large keyboard.
The port replicator allows the simple connection of peripherals devices to the LIFEBOOK E8020. Both the power supply and the port replicator on the new LIFEBOOK E8020 are compatible with those from the LIFEBOOK E8010 and LIFEBOOK S7010 Series, which comes in handy when, for example, colleagues using different LIFEBOOK Series are sharing a desktop.
(Moved) "The first shipments of the LIFEBOOK E8020 with the Intel 915PM chipset are planned for the end of February 2005, while the LIFEBOOK E8020 with the Intel 915GM chipset, integrated graphics (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900) and an optional 15.1-inch TFT-XGA or 15.1-inch TFT SXGA+ display are set to be available from May 2005," said Lewitzki.
