"With the ability to carry seven people in comfort plus plenty of cargo, the TrailBlazer EXT is the ideal choice for a 'big-family' vehicle," said Samer El Khalil, Marketing Manager - Chevrolet 4x4. "With comfortable seating for up to seven, the interior is extremely versatile, with almost unlimited combinations of passenger and cargo space configurations."

The dependable TrailBlazer EXT offers higher levels of passenger comfort and efficiency; equipped with the advanced Vortec 4.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine as standard, which generates a class leading 294 horsepower and 292 lb-ft of torque, or the new Vortec 5300 V-8 engine, which comes equipped with the innovative Displacement on Demand (DOD) technology. The DOD technology enables fuel economy gains of up to 8% in certain driving conditions by reducing the number of cylinders engaged in the combustion process.

The sophisticated, next-generation engine controller determines when to deactivate cylinders, allowing the engine to maintain vehicle speed in lighter-load conditions such as highway cruising. The engine returns to V-8 mode the instant the controller determines the vehicle speed or load requires additional power. Both engines are complemented by the rugged Hydra-Matic electronically controlled four-speed transmission.

Safety and security
The TrailBlazer EXT has a comprehensive array of new standard and available occupant safety features for 2005. Available on TrailBlazer EXT are head curtain side air bags that act like a protective curtain when deployed, unfolding from the roof rail behind the side window header. When the bag deploys in a moderate to severe side impact, it is angled somewhat toward the window to help provide protection for front- and rear-seat outboard passengers. The new system replaces the previous seat-mounted system, which was for the driver and front passenger only.
