Several members of the Saudi Royal family were among the large number of distinguished guests present at the glittering event last Thursday.

EMAAR Properties was a key sponsor of this year's Pan-Arab Gold Jewellery Design Contest called "Al Ibda'ul Hor" organised by the World Gold Council. The competition was open to all Arab nationals throughout the region and was aimed at highlighting creative Arabic designs and designers to the world.

In the run-up to the finale, the Gold and Diamond Park of EMAAR Properties supported the event by showcasing an exquisite collection of gold jewellery created by talented young Arab designers and which won awards at the inaugural Pan-Arab Gold Jewellery Design Contest.

The award-winning designs from this year's competition went on display at the Gold and Diamond Park, the first free zone in the Middle East which is dedicated to the manufacture and sale of gold and diamond jewellery.

Three winners from three different categories - Casual Wear, Heritage Wear and Formal Wear - were each awarded a package of fabulous prizes including gold bars, a trophy, a certificate and a jewellery gift at the finale which included an awards ceremony and gala dinner. Over 7,000 entries were received from which 30 finalists were shortlisted for the three categories.

Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of EMAAR Properties, said: "EMAAR Properties is proud to have hosted this event at Emirates Hills which matched the beauty and quality of the superb designs that were unveiled at the finale. Our sponsorship of this unique contest was a demonstration of EMAAR's commitment to supporting projects that encourage creativity among Arab youth and which will further enhance Dubai's image as a City of Gold. The contest also underlined EMAAR's growing partnership with the World Gold Council".
