FDA warns on promethazine

The UAE General Authority for Health Services has banned dispensing the drug promethazine to children under the age of two reported Gulf News. Also prescribed as phensedyl, histaloc, phenergan and rhinathiol, the anti-vomiting drug can cause respiratory depression and sudden death to infant children, according to a Federal Drug Agency report.
