Abu Dhabi's leading transportation provider, Al Ghazal Transport, is ensuring road safety in the UAE by continuing with ongoing training programmes for its drivers.
Driver Awareness and Safety sessions are currently under way at Al Ghazal Transport. The courses are designed to upgrade driving skills To prevent collisions and tackle reckless road behaviour and handle extreme environmental conditions.

Al Ghazal handpicks its crew after a detailed analysis of their capabilities including personality, language capabilities and local market knowledge. All drivers also undergo an exhaustive training programme before being allowed on the roads with passengers.

"The main priority for Al Ghazal Transport is that our passengers reach their destinations safely and comfortably. We recognise our responsibility to the community. That is why we spend so much time and effort to train our drivers on etiquette and road safety," said Tony Clayton, General Manager, Al Ghazal Transport, Abu Dhabi.

"The Middle East has some of the highest number of road related accidents in the world. According to a report by Automechanika in 2003, there were 7,397 serious traffic accidents in the UAE, 873 deaths and over 10,000 injuries. Relative to the number of vehicles on the road the UAE has six times more deaths from road traffic accidents per year than the USA and Europe. More needs to be done to reduce these numbers and Al Ghazal is doing their part to contribute in making roads safer for all." he added.

Once drivers successfully complete their interview process, the next stage consists of vigorous testing to ensure they are capable of transporting passengers safely and efficiently.

"We pride ourselves on being the safest, most economical and most comfortable travel option in the region. We are all road users and education is the first step towards reversing the increase in road accidents. We will continue to provide our customers with quality transportation services, maintaining excellent standards in both service and safety," said Clayton.
