- PRESS RELEASE
Mr. Christian von Koenigsegg, creator and mentor of the supercar named after him THE Koenigsegg.
The Koenigsegg CCR was created by Christian Von Koenigsegg with the support of his dedicated team of designers, engineers and craftsmen. The new Koenigsegg CCR offers the ultimate driving experience, seamlessly uniting aesthetic design and unequalled performance. "We are truly honoured and delighted to deliver several CCR's to the Middle-East. We hope and believe this to be the starting point for a long history of proud owners of Koenigsegg cars in the region", stated by Mr. Christian Von Koenigsegg.
The CCR accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.3 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 400 kilometers per hour, making it the most powerful street legal car in the world. The supercharged 4.7 litre, 8-cylinder engine delivers an astonishing 806 bhp at 6900 rpm and 920Nm (678 ftlb) at 5700 rpm. Both body and chassis are made of pre-impregnated Carbon Fibre Kevlar and lightweight hard-foam sandwich reinforcements of Carbon Fibre, reinforced with Kevlar and aluminum honeycomb, engineered for maximum strength whilst delivering perfect aerodynamics and sleek lines. Each Koenigsegg is tailormade to the personal requirements of its drivers, in order to make it truly unique.
So far there have been 23 Koenigseggs sold world wide, three of which were sold to the UAE by Quartermile. Mr. Prabhakar Chadha states that 'it is my great pleasure to have brought the Koenigsegg to the Middle East, I am sure that it is being appreciated in the GCC and I am positive that we will have some fun with this supercar'. Quartermile announced on the 24th of January 2005 that the first production of Koenigsegg CCR was delivered to a VIP customer in the UAE. "We hope and believe this to be the starting point for a long history of proud owners of Koenigsegg cars in the region" Mr. Koenigsegg said, "and surely there are many more to come" added Mr. Chadha.
Another highlight was the appearance of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, CEO of Al Fajer Group of Companies and a member of the ruling family of Dubai, who is also the President and Chairman of A1 Grand Prix. HH Sheikh Maktoum who brought the A1 Grand Prix Series into life, which is a new concept in international motor racing designed to fill the winter season when Formula 1 is not active. He took the Koenigsegg on a swift drive of 4 laps around the Dubai Autodrome track to see just how powerful the supercar was. HH Sheikh Maktoum states that "It was my first real experience to drive a Koenigsegg myself and I can surely say that this supercar is in a league of its own".
He later added that it was quite a "handful to handle" and even Mr. Koenigsegg who knows his own cars best was amazed by how much power HH was getting out of the CCR due to his brilliant driving skills "I do have quite a heart beat now" added Christian von Koenigsegg.
It is hard to believe but HH Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Al Maktoum confirmed that "this is the fastest street car that I have ever driven on the track" also when asked about the Koenigsegg he commented that he admires Mr. Koenigsegg, "for delivering innovative technology and methodology". He added "Christian and I are similar for what we have done in realizing our visions and being entrepreneurs".
Mr. Prabhakar Chadha closed the two days by informing us that "Quartermile lives to provide its clients with something different. We have exclusive products and therefore it is our great honour to bring to Dubai the first and fastest supercar in the world. UAE residents have therefore the priviledge to be the first in the world to see the Koenigsegg". He also believes that "the Koenigsegg will be the fastest supercar for the next 5 years to come".
If you want to have a look for yourself, please visit the Quartermile Service Centre, as Quartermile is the only official dealer and service provider in the Middle East. "Please come and see for yourself that we deliver what we promise" ended Mr. Prabhakar Hersh Chadha.
