Mr Norbert Salcher, Galaxy's Regional Sales Director for Western Europe, has been appointed Regional Director of Sales - Eastern Europe & CIS Countries. In this newly-created position, Salcher will be responsible for developing and expanding Galaxy business in Belarus, Russia, Croatia, Bosnia, Herzegowina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, all other CIS States, Slovenia, Albania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

"For the past two years, Salcher has been instrumental in establishing Galaxy's necessary foundations in Western Europe," announced Mr Marco Gorin, Galaxy's Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing. "During this period, he has also shown a keen interest and ability in developing our presence in the dynamic Eastern European markets," Gorin added.

Gorin went on to say "Like him, Galaxy believes in the potential of these markets and his appointment as Regional Director of Sales - Eastern Europe & CIS Countries is a sign of both his abilities and our commitment to constantly look for new opportunities and partners on a truly global scale."

Mr Bruno Randone has been appointed Galaxy's Regional Director of Sales for Western Europe. The position was previously held by Norbert Salcher who is now spearheading Galaxy sales in Eastern Europe and the CIS countries.

In his new capacity, Randone will be responsible for the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Andorra, Benelux, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, The Baltic States, Greece, Turkey and Israel.

"Randone has been at the helm of one of Galaxy's most dynamic National Marketing Companies in Western Europe, Galaxy NMC Mediterraneo, Rome Italy, for the last 18 months," announced Gorin. "His coming on board as part of the Galaxy team to broaden his stage of activities and be responsible for the development of sales activities in this region is a natural progression. Randone is an individual with the necessary vision, know-how and drive to lead our activities in the region and Galaxy has great expectations of him," stated Gorin.

In the newly created position of Regional Director of Sales for Africa, Middle East & Indian Subcontinent, Galaxy has appointed Mr Gregory Hough, who previously served as Managing Director for Travel Distribution Solutions, Johannesburg, South Africa.

"Thanks to Hough, our operations in Southern Africa, in countries like South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, Angola and Mozambique, have been phenomenal and growing steadily since the beginning," stated Gorin.

Gorin added that "Hough is a relentless, capable individual who is now ready to take up a much wider assignment as Regional Sales Director - Africa, Middle East and Indian Subcontinent. His appointment is a sign of our belief that there is much to be gained by establishing a more focused position in this region which, no doubt, holds a great deal of potential and must not be neglected."

All three appointees will report directly to Gorin, manage and drive Galaxy's sales network in their respective regions; actively promote Galaxy's suite of solutions to suit both supply and distribution demand across the region and in support of other key regions world-wide; and negotiate and conclude key supplier and distributor agreements to substantially increase competitive and available inventory in support of growing global demand through Galaxy's distribution platform.

Galaxy is about to complete the integration in its global distribution platform of a revolutionary uniform connectivity solution for real-time net rate travel commerce which is set to project the company forward and further assert its position in the market. The appointment of the new Regional Directors of Sales is timely and will certainly add momentum to Galaxy's vision.

Galaxy Distribution System Ltd. is an unbiased on-line global distribution platform for hotels and other ground services. Galaxy provides travel professionals with multiple products which serve as solutions to specific market requirements—and which connect travel service buyers to a worldwide inventory of dynamic travel products in a way never before available to the travel industry.

Galaxy products, integrated and driven by a central platform, include:

• Galaxy TDS: The first true global distribution system dedicated to hotels and other ground services products and designed for Retail Travel Agents to search, compare, book and pay for competitive inventory provided by Receptive Inbound Operators, national tourism boards/organisations and other inventory aggregators. Galaxy TDS inventory is sourced from many channels and is distributed via Galaxy's own software applications, as well as Galaxy's interface capabilities through a dynamic switch called ABBIE.

• The Galaxy ABBIE Switch: Enabling real-time, on-line travel commerce between net-rate inventory suppliers and distributors, including travel portals, resulting in streamlined communications, increased profitability, and customer satisfaction for all participants. Designed to provide participants with a uniform connectivity solution that promotes efficient, easy, seamless trading. Galaxy ABBIE Switch is a joint development between Galaxy and Alliance Reservation Network (ARN)

• Galaxy TBRS: A unique distribution platform designed to assist national and local tourism organisations and hotel associations to capitalise on their own reservation potential, thus generating revenue opportunities for tourism promotion for their respective regions.

• GroundServices: A private trading platform that automates the distribution and sales of Receptive Inbound Operators' inventory to their private buyers and Galaxy TDS's Retail Travel Agents.

• Galaxy BSP: The first global billing and settlement system, specifically designed for non-air products in support of the above systems. Galaxy BSP provides access to a banking network in over 80 countries and allows cash transactions in over 30 currencies and credit card transactions in multiple currencies.

Galaxy's current customers include (1) Retail Travel Agents, who typically sell airline tickets and/or ground services to retail customers; (2) Tourism boards/organisations and hotel associations, who are increasingly looking to generate revenues by offering reservations and other services; (3) Receptive / Inbound Operators ,who receive foreign travellers and provide ground services, including hotel bookings, transfers, tour guides, excursions, etc.; and 4) Outbound Tour Operators, who buy wholesale services from inbound operators and resell packages or individual elements to travel agents or direct to travellers.

In addition to its current customer base, Galaxy is actively participating in the rapid changes in the electronic distribution of travel products by expanding both its supply and distribution channels with Travel Portals; Inventory Aggregators; Switches; Central Reservation Systems; Global Distribution Systems; and other electronic distributors.
