The Pro-Am event has attracted Ryder Cup winners Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley and Miguel Angel Jimenez to compete in the tournament.

Al Ghazal Golf Course is one of the world's leading sand courses with fairways sculpted from sand and 'browns' as opposed to 'greens'. The par 71, 6600 yard course will be a challenging experience for all players. The 2005 Abu Dhabi World Sand Golf Championship is sponsored by Abu Dhabi Duty Free and ADNOC Distribution, the national oil company. The World Sand Golf Championships is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Duty Free and Professional Sports Events Ltd.
