- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 02 - 2005 at 16:12
- PRESS RELEASE
German-born Horst Burbulla who received an Oscar statuette at the recently concluded 77th Annual Academy Awards ceremony for inventing the Technocrane, a telescoping camera crane that has redefined the industry standard, will be visiting Dubai to attend the 11th Middle East International Cable, Satellite, Broadcast & Communications Exhibition (CABSAT).
"This also puts the spotlight on the level and calibre of our participating exhibitors that include leading companies from 40 countries around the world who assemble in Dubai to display cutting-edge technology making CABSAT the leading electronic media and communications event in the region," Mr. Almerri observed.
Horst Burbulla is credited with developing the Technocrane telescoping crane. He introduced it to Hollywood's best-known director Steven Spielberg, who first used it in the 1981 in the action-adventure film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
The Technocrane made camera cranes more mobile and improved wide-screen cinematography by putting cameras in places where their operators could not easily go, and helped capture complex action sequences.
Among other major players to be present at CABSAT this year from the cable and satellite sector include E-Vision, Viaccess, HomeCast, Eurostar, Echostar, Triax, Topfield, HomeCast, Kaon, Technosat, SMART, SMT, Skyworth, Fortec, Thomson Broadband, ABO, Dynavision, Dubai TV and Al Majd.
The communications sector has attracted top names like Arabsat, Eutelsat, Intelsat, New Skies, Globcast, Hellas, SES Americom, Viasat, NSTT, Newsat, Atlas Communications, Horizon Satellite, Streamlink, ND Satcom, Newtec, Bond and Speedcast.
While the broadcast and production sector has the likes of Sony, Thomson, Panasonic, JVC, Pinnacle, Leitch, Matrox, SeaChange, IBM, Omneon, Egripment, Vinten, Sachtler, Miller, Technocrane, Axon, Fujinon, Hitachi, Canon, Discreet, Avid, Alias Wavefront, Salam, Tek Signals, Soft Edit, Oasis, Glocom, Dubai Media City and SAMACOM in the same hall.
Also participating at the event will be E-Vision, the UAE's leading digital cable TV entertainment provider, who will demonstrate, for the first time in the Middle East, the capability of its network in handling High Definition Television (HDTV) signals and content using a Thomson set-top box.
With the launch of their 4th generation of ARABSAT satellites in 2005, ARABSAT leads the region again with higher power, wider coverage and the latest state-of-the-art satellites. ARABSAT is the only full-service satellite operator based in the Middle East. They will put on display live High Definition Television (HDTV) signals delivered via ARABSAT's satellite directly to the CABSAT show floor in booth no A6-10.
