- PRESS RELEASE
Batelco is sponsoring the Bahrain Garden Show due to be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 3rd to 6th March 2005.
The show, which is held under the patronage of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by his wife HH Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, is designed to increase awareness of gardening and highlight the importance of expanding the green land in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The show includes a number of activities ranging from workshops, live demonstrations, lectures and competitions, as well as the 40th Flower Show organized by Bahrain Garden Club.
In 2004, the Bahrain Garden Fair was held, for the first time, at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre. The high quality of the event and individual entries generated a tremendous amount of interest - both in the Gulf region and in other countries throughout the Middle East. This year, the event's management team invited regional and international organisations looking for a cost-effective way to access the fast growing Middle East horticultural market to participate in the Bahrain Garden Fair 2005.
Because of its ideal geographic location, world class facilities and easy access from all countries within and outside the region, the Kingdom of Bahrain serves as an ideal venue for a major event such as this and the invitations were very positively received. As a consequence, this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
The exhibition profile has been enlarged with the aim of covering not only hobby and recreational gardening and landscaping, but also public area design and recreational parks, agriculture and irrigation as well as commercial production of flowers, plants and fauna. The prime objective is to promote gardening and planting to the enthusiastic hobby gardeners and landscaping experts as well as the professional landscaping architects, farmers, horticulturalists and herbalists.
"We are delighted to be the main sponsor of this important show," says Ahmed Al Janahi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Batelco. "Many interested individuals and specialists from Gulf states, the rest of the Middle East and throughout the world are participating in the show. This illustrates the positive impact that the show will have on the agricultural, industrial, economic and tourism sectors in our kingdom."
"This sponsorship is part of the company's commitment to providing financial and moral support for all activities held at both local and international levels and boosting the image of the people and the Kingdom of Bahrain, globally."
On receiving the sponsorship cheque from Batelco's Chief Executive, Tony Hart, HH Shaikha Maisa bint Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Head of the Garden Show Organizing Committee, expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to Batelco for their continuous support to a wide range of activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
She explained that sponsorships, such as this one, illustrate the close relationship between Batelco and the Bahraini community and demonstrate the company's continued commitment to contributing to all endeavours that promote the people and the Kingdom of Bahrain. She also hailed the unrivalled diversity and quality of service that Batelco offers to its customers and wished the company and its employees every success and prosperity.
During 2004, Batelco donated some BD 5 million to social, cultural, charitable, and sporting activities. The company also contributed to a large number of major projects as part of its support to the government's efforts aimed at improving the living standards of the people and communities of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
