DTCM sponsored media centre at the richest-ever Dubai Desert Classic

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has sponsored the Media Centre at this year's Dubai Desert Classic which has attracted the biggest names in world golf including South African superstar Ernie Els and Australian legend Greg Norman.

The four-day international event, which started at the Emirates Golf Club on March 3, concludes on March 6.

The DTCM Executive Events, Mr. Qusai Obaidulla highlighted the department's support to the event reflecting its commitment to enhance the international profile of Dubai in general and in particular as the sporting capital of the Middle East.

The state-of-the-art Media Centre and the adjoining hospitality tent has been serving more than 200 visiting golf journalists, photographers and TV crews from different countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Holland, Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden, Spain and the US. The local media too is benefiting from the spacious facility equipped with the latest in IT and communications.

The centre has the facility for allowing journalists and TV crew interview the participating golfers. The global circuit championship has been extensively covered in the media and broadcast live across the world by TV and Radio channels.

The department has kept promotional brochures at the centre to further promote Dubai. The media personnel have been provided with information about the existing and upcoming golf clubs in the UAE.

Dubai Desert Classic, with a cash price of US$2.2 million up for grabs, has attracted participation of 150 professional players from around the world.
